The Simpler, The Better.

Here at Dempsey Design I believe that your website should be free.  Free from look and feel, free from branding clutter, and let's face it simple no-frills is best.  

So today I'm offering simplification website consulting for an outstanding rate of $255 an hour.  Lets get together and have a long, drawn out discussion on site content, how we can extract the most from the hex color #0000FF, and what it means to your business and customers.  We'll also discuss how to simplify your logo to its roots-- the letters. I'll even throw in those day-old donuts they have on sale at Safeway (fresh isn't simple enough, and why should you pay extra for it?), and one of those oversized Post-it note pads on an easel (for an additional $50- travel to and from Staples included).  I'll put on my best Cole Haan shoes and pink tie and we'll "git 'er dun"-- professionally of course.

The site is back to normal, and yes, simpler is typically better, but obviously you want your site to ooze your brand.

Interview: Geordie Romer on Social Media

Geordie Romer is an active Social Media user.  I seem to bump into his tweets, posts and other web interactions on a regular basis.  So as a follow-up to my Social Media post, I decided to ask Geordie a few questions about his experience with Social Media:

Sure Shon.

I am a real estate agent in the Leavenworth and Lake Wenatchee area. Most of my clients are buying or selling vacation homes in the Leavenworth area and most of those buyers (and many sellers) live in the Seattle or Bellevue area. Real estate has really made a switch in the past few years and the internet is a big source of information for consumers, especially in my case with out of area buyers.

I notice you use Twitter quite often, and I of course know you via LinkedIn.com. What other social media services do you use?

Should I be using Twitter?

What about Facebook?  MySpace?

Over the last few months there have been a slew of social media seminars, presentations, roundtables and luncheons in just the few blocks walk from my office.  Everyone and their Grandmother has heard about Twitter at this point – and some Grandmothers even have a Facebook account!  The big question every business owner wants to know right now is: “Should I be using social media?”
