An Event Apart: Seattle 2011

I'm excited to announce that I'll be unavailable Monday, March 28 through Wednesday, March 30! But for good reason: 3 days of design, code and content at An Event Apart web design conference in Seattle.  An Event Apart is put on by some of the web's most formidable design and development gurus and I'll be attending to glean and extrapolate everything I can in order to keep up with the latest standards and practices. All of this, of course, is to benefit my clients.

I am most excited to learn more about mobile web development strategies and practices. As many of my clients and friends know I am a huge gadget nerd, and that the iPhone is the single best gadget ever invented.  With mobile web traffic increasing every day and more people surfing on their iPhone, iPad or Android devices I want to make sure that my clients will have the choice of optimizing their website for viewing on these magical gadgets. 

So, want to follow along? I'll be posting updates to my twitter account as they happen, and checking in on Gowalla.  I'm very excited for the conference, and more excited for my clients and future clients.

I had a great time at the event. I met lots of great people from all over the country, and even a fantastic guy from New Zealand.  The speakers were fantastic and I certainly learned quite a bit about user interface and user experience design.

Squarespace SoHo new digs

Squarespace. Shon Dempsey. New York city.

I'll be in attendance of the Squarespace holiday party, Thursday December 10th to rub elbows with the team (and chums, Tyler Thompson & Josh Kill) behind the best CMS available, their friends and other fellow designers.  Squarespace just relocated to new offices on broadway in SoHo, so it will all go down in their new digs.  I'll be snapping photos and sharing them here an on twitter. Interview: Geordie Romer on Social Media

Geordie Romer is an active Social Media user.  I seem to bump into his tweets, posts and other web interactions on a regular basis.  So as a follow-up to my Social Media post, I decided to ask Geordie a few questions about his experience with Social Media:

Hi Geordie, thanks for taking the time to answer some questions regarding your use of social media. How about a brief introduction on who you are and what you do?

Sure Shon.

I am a real estate agent in the Leavenworth and Lake Wenatchee area. Most of my clients are buying or selling vacation homes in the Leavenworth area and most of those buyers (and many sellers) live in the Seattle or Bellevue area. Real estate has really made a switch in the past few years and the internet is a big source of information for consumers, especially in my case with out of area buyers.

I notice you use Twitter quite often, and I of course know you via LinkedIn.com. What other social media services do you use?
